EMILY DICKINSON
19TH CENTURY AMERICAN FEMALE POET
Considered an eccentric by locals, Dickinson was a prolific writer. While she wrote almost 1,800 poems over the course of her lifetime, only 10 were ever published, along with one letter. Her poems contain short lines, unconventional capitalization and punctuation, typically lack titles, and often use slant rhyme. Dickinson’s style was unique for her era.
